Who Should Attend
This course is directed toward technical personnel who are
interested in gaining a broad understanding of gasification
technologies and issues. It should be of interest and value to-
Personnel who are, or will be, involved in evaluating projects, developing novel processes, or technology planning, which utilize gasification
- Personnel in industrial segments, such as power generation, petroleum refining, ammonia or methanol production, chemical intermediates using syngas or production of clean transportation fuels
- Personnel responsible for, or designing means of disposing of, municipal solid wastes, residue from petroleum refining or coal benefaction and other chemical and biological
wastes
- Technical personnel in financial institutions responsible for due diligence studies
Description
This course will provide an overview of the diverse nature of
gasification-based processes, depending on the feedstocks
used, products made and the environmental issues. It will
address process integration issues that are vital for
economic viability.
The course is designed to complement and supplement
material presented in gasification conferences. Fundamental
chemistry and thermodynamics of partial oxidation of
carbonaceous materials, gasification reactor design issues
and heat recovery options will be covered in detail. Other
down stream processing options will be surveyed.
